INAIL-qualified and calibrated VST Series safety valves are devices that automatically, without the assistance of energy other than that of the pressurized fluid, discharge a sufficient amount of fluid to prevent the predetermined safety pressure from being exceeded to protect the heat generator and the system. The valves are designed and manufactured in accordance with the specifications and requirements defined in Compendium R - 2009 Edition, Technical Specification for Application of Ministerial Decree 1-12-1975.
VST Series safety valves are generally used in closed-circuit heating systems with a rated output of more than 35kW and using hot water with a temperature below 110°C. The function of the safety valve is to protect the generator and the system from sudden unanticipated pressure increases. The causes of valve tripping can be of various types:
- Elevation of the operating fluid temperature above the preset maximum value resulting in uncompensated expansion
- Insufficient sizing of the expansion tank
- Excessive filling pressure of the circuit
Therefore, the safety valve remains inactive when the system operation is normal.
