IME was founded in 1946. It started with the production of index measuring instruments for alternating and continuous electrical quantities.

Today it designs and manufactures in Italy analogue and digital measuring instruments and integrated systems for various fields of application: electrical measurement, industrial automation, energy management, protection. Its history took an initial turn in the early 1970s, when it expanded its product range and introduced electronics, with transducers for converting electrical and physical quantities and digital indicators.

Subsequently, the company consolidated its range of equipment for tertiary and industrial installations: in protection with differential relays and in control with energy meters.

In the 1990s, the company continued to evolve: modular series, programmable instruments, multifunctional measuring equipment, man-machine interface.

Today IME's production ranges from single instruments to integrated systems for centralised measurement management.
