PLANET GSD-1008HP provides eight 10/100/1000T ports with 32-watt PoE+ 802.3at, a total PoE budget of 120 watts, and two additional uplink ports to meet the demand for sufficient PoE power for HD IP surveillance and Wi-Fi system in a small-scale but high-performance network. With the same compact, desktop-sized metal housing, it makes unit placement convenient and provides quick and easy deployment of PD PoE with power. The built-in solid DIP switch provides "Standard," "VLAN," and "Extend" operating modes.

The GSD-1008HP operates as a standard IEEE 802.3at PoE+ switch in the "Standard" operating mode. The VLAN operation mode provides port-based VLAN function that helps prevent the mutual influence of multicast or IP camera broadcast storm.

In the "Extend" operating mode, the GSD-1008HP operates on a per-port basis with 10 Mbps duplex operation, but supports a 20-watt PoE power output over a distance of up to 250 meters, exceeding the 100 m limit on UTP Ethernet cable. With this brand new feature, the GSD-1008HP provides an additional solution for 802.3at PoE+ distance extension, saving the cost of Ethernet cable installation. In addition, its VLAN isolation feature isolates each port so as to prevent broadcast storm and defend DHCP spoofing in the Extend operating mode.

The GSD-1008HP is equipped with two uplink ports with transfer rates of 1000Mbps to ensure high-speed video and data transmission, a reliable guarantee for the connection between the surveillance system and the external network where the eight PoE+ ports can be used to their full potential. The GSD-1008HP adopts not only Power over Ethernet technology, but also automated PD monitoring and real-time PoE status. The live PD verification function is applied in Standard, VLAN and Extended modes. After the port's PoE is turned on, the device starts to detect whether the port is transmitting data. If the port is not transmitting data and the duration exceeds a specific time, PoE will automatically turn off and then turn on again. It will also greatly improve network reliability because the PoE port will restore power to the PD, thus reducing the administrator's management burden.

With data switching and Power over Ethernet integrated into a single unit, the GSD-1008HP reduces cabling requirements and eliminates the need for dedicated electrical outlets on the wall, ceiling, or anywhere unreachable. A cable that carries both data and power can reduce installation costs, simplify the installation effort, and eliminate the need for electricians or extension cords. With 8 PoE interfaces, the GSD-1008HP is ideal for small businesses and workgroups, making PoE facility deployment including wireless access points, IP-based surveillance cameras and IP phones anywhere easier, more efficient and more cost-effective.

By providing eight 802.3at PoE+ inline power interfaces, the GSD-1008HP can easily create a power source that centrally controls enterprise IP phone systems, IP camera systems, and wireless AP systems. For example, up to 8 cameras can be installed in the corners of the company for surveillance needs, or up to 8 wireless APs can be created to have a wireless roaming environment in the office. Without the power outlet limitation, the GSD-1008HP makes the installation of cameras or wireless access points easier and more efficient.
