The diaphragm pressure vessel is a device designed to supply water at a chosen pressure, independent of the supply pressure, by limiting the number of pump insertions.
The driving agent that makes this energy transformation possible is a cushion of pressurized air (or nitrogen) stored between the membrane and the metal wall of the vessel. This cushion compresses as pressure increases, allowing water to enter the vessel and thus storing water under pressure.
Membrane pressure vessels, in contrast to conventional autoclaves without an air cushion membrane, offer:
- energy savings: decrease in the number of pump starts
- reduction in installation costs: air not being in contact with water cannot disperse so there is no need to install a compressor, to restore this cushion
- reduction of maintenance costs: the vessel needs only a precharge pressure check; moreover, the diaphragm can be changed, disassembled and reassembled, without any technical problems and in a short time
- reduction in the volume of water to be stored, thus less space required
- reduction of water pollution risks: the membrane also acts as a barrier for any suspended substance in the air, such as: oil, smoke, bacteria, odors, dust, etc.; causing a possible alteration of water quality. The membranes are certified for food use
- long tank life: by preventing direct contact of water with the tank walls, the membrane ensures that there is a marked reduction in corrosion
- dual utility: this type of tank also acts as a water hammer damper
AS-AC series interchangeable diaphragm tanks are a viable solution for small domestic installations, garden irrigation systems and all other applications where small flow rates are required.
All models come standard with EPDM diaphragm; this also makes them usable as a sanitary expansion vessel up to a maximum design temperature of +99°C.
